Alec Gewirtz is Editor and Publisher of Kismet, a literary magazine of spirituality, religion, and mysticism. His debut novel, I Was Happy, will be out from CLASH Books in 2027. He’s represented by Annie DeWitt of Enliven Endeavors.

He’s also the CEO of Nearness, a cooperative organization fostering spiritual community for nonreligious people. His work with Nearness has been featured in The Atlantic and The Washington Post and on BBC and NPR.

A graduate of Princeton University, where he studied religion, and a former Fulbright Research Fellow in theology at the University of Toronto, he lives in New York City.
